Accessibility
Transport for Troops is committed to an accessible experience for all who serve.
Draft — final language will be reviewed before public cutover.
Transport for Troops is committed to making our public site and applicant portal usable by service members, families, veterans, and caregivers — including those using assistive technology such as screen readers, voice control, and keyboard-only navigation.
Our Approach
We design with the following accessibility principles in mind:
- Semantic HTML structure with logical heading hierarchy
- Keyboard-only navigation for all interactive elements
- Visible focus states for form fields and buttons
- Form labels associated with their inputs
- Responsive layouts that adapt to mobile and desktop viewports
- Sufficient color contrast in text and interactive elements
- Screen-reader-friendly button and link naming
Current Status
We have reviewed our public site and applicant portal for common accessibility barriers and continue to improve based on testing and feedback. We do not claim full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance at this time. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we are committed to continued improvement.
Known Limitations
- Some third-party components may have limitations outside our direct control.
- Document upload interfaces may require additional assistance for users using voice-control software.
- We are continuously reviewing and improving modal focus management and screen-reader announcements.
